stsr ji: v'i Issued Every Two Weeks By and For the Employees Volume Four WHIST L E MARSHALL FIELD & COM PAINTY, DSC Manufacturing Division, Spray; ftfwtk ITarrtti Monday, December 17, 194T Number Twelve As we prepare our fourth Christmas issue of The Mill Whistle for press we cannot help but feel deeply grateful that for the first time in the brief life of this paper we can celebrate the approaching holiday season with only peace and joy in our hearts. For once again the great nations of earth are at peace. Once again men look at one another without hatred or malice. Little children, their faces happy with eager expectations, again have their fathers at home with them-some of them for the first time in their young lives. Christmas 1945 should be a joyous one for all. Men and boys who have spent the past four Yuletides in foreign lands amid scenes too terrible to contem plate, are taking their rightful places among us; at looms, spinning frames, cards, and offices. These men have completed the task they set out to do. They have won the four freedoms for those they loved; they have won the fight for their God, their country, and their HOMES. We welcome you, all of you. Your presence among us means that this year we can forget all cares and troubles for a brief period and make this the happiest, jolliest Christmas ever. So let’s be happy, joyous, care free, but not for a moment forgetting to give thanks to the Child whose birthday we are celebrating. To one and all, a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. THE MILL WHISTLE STAFF.
